Re: Swaziland South Africa Documentary
Date: 7-29-2010
Issue: Full length video divided into 3 sections

Greetings,
From July 15th through July 24th I spent time in South Africa, in particular The Kingdom Of Swaziland. My mission was to perform a series of shows at night and work during the day with a group called Heart For Africa.

With that said, I believe it would be more effective for you to watch the video documentary, than for me to put into words (blog) about this incredible experience!

Peace,
Joseph

Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival 2010 June 26, 2010

Date: June 26th, 2010

Re: Earl Klugh at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival

Just finished performing with Earl Klugh at The Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago. It was a total blast! Thanks to Earl Klugh for inviting me to perform with him and to Eric Clapton and The Crossroads Organization for having the vision of having a master jazz guitarist such as Earl to be apart of this year’s 2010 concert. Not enough words can express how appreciative and honored it was to be apart of such an event. I heard, witnessed and met so many incredible artists, that I’m still trying to absorb the experience. A few of these moments were captured with pictures and I’m attaching a few of them here. If you would like to see my complete gallery, simply click this link. Additionally, the concert will be available on DVD in the coming months.

It should be noted that the main focus of this event is to aid The Crossroads Centre Antigua. Crossroads Centre is a non-profit, International Centre of Excellence for the treatment of alcohol and other drug addictions. Residential treatment provides a unique opportunity for individuals suffering from alcohol and drug addiction to immerse themselves in an intensive therapeutic and supportive environment. Away from the daily distractions of everyday life, the physical environment is one of peace and tranquility which offers clients a safe place to begin the process of recovery. In addition to alcohol and drug rehabilitation program, services include: intervention referrals, aftercare planning transitional living residences, and an integrated family program. For more information please visit and donate at: http://www.crossroadsguitarfestival.com/

With Earl Klugh and Bob James… May 26, 2010

I wanted to write a quick blog post about the amazing shows that I experienced with Earl Klugh in Los Angeles (Catalina Jazz Club) and with Bob James and Earl Klugh in Seattle (Jazz Alley). Getting an opportunity to perform and share the stage with two legends of jazz was an absolute career highlight. In addition to the musical inspiration, it was even more rewarding to find these two gentlemen to be such great people. It was a true honor and a very humbling experience.

In addition to sharing the stage with Earl and Bob, sharing the stage with David Lee Spradley (keys), Yonrico Scott (drums), Logan Patton (sound engineer LA) and David Kuhn (sound engineer Seattle) was a treat and honor as well.

Lastly, the unsung hero of the show(s) was Earl Klugh’s manager. She is one of the best I’ve ever seen and none of this would have been possible without her steady hand and sage expertise. All in all (musically and otherwise), I am very thankful for the opportunity to have made music with this cast of amazing artists and to be surrounded by wonderful genuine people.

Now on with the Motley…

Peace,
Joseph

To Africa With Love

Hello friends,

Today (May 11th, 2010) my newest CD “To Africa With Love” is released on Blue Canoe Records. I’m so excited to share this recording with you and hope that you will check it out and enjoy!

As the title suggests, “To Africa With Love” is a collection of songs inspired by the magical enchantment of Africa, fused with my musical influences and American heritage.  These audio vibrations are a snapshot of my life from June 2008 through the completion of this recording on February 11th, 2010.  Through happiness and pain, this recording captures my daily journey of the many facets in the creative process.  The composition, arrangement, performance, engineering, mix and overall production of this audio diary reflects my present musical and spiritual state.

Music has no boundaries and can not be separated by oceans, governments and principalities.  Music has the power to uplift, connect, heal and create universal harmony for the human race.  As God’s vessel, each of us are on a spiritual journey to develop and embrace the gifts He has given to us. With these gifts we should be reminded to develop and share them for and with our fellow man. Each of our unique thumbprints should not be taken for granted but must be utilized for the greater good.  It is my sincere hope that this CD captures and embraces this spirit, as it is the nucleus of every note and creative thought I relay to you.

This CD would not have been possible without the following artist’s who added their unique thumbprint to this recording:
Tyrone Jackson (keys)
Brian Carl (guitar)
Wayne Viar (drums/percussion)
Charlie Wood (vocals)
Seth Condrey (vocals, acoustic guitar)
Chinua Hawk (vocals)
Abbes Bouzefrane (vocals)
Ken Love (mastering)
